For Amazing You

When Elizabeth and I were planning the Inkspiration Saturday projects, there was something about the Window Box on page 16 of the Sale-A-Bration brochure that we just couldn’t get out of our minds:

Try as we might, we could not get close to that look with a card, until we went a totally different direction with a heavy dose of drama:

For Amazing You | Heartfelt Inkspiration | Stampin' Up! | 2018 Sale-A-Bration Amazing You | This dramatic card owes its impact to lots of black embossing. Click for more details.

It gave me an opportunity to use one my favorite-ever In Colors, Flirty Flamingo, and do a little watercoloring.  I’ve been using Stampin’ Blends so much that I forgot how much I love watercoloring — and it’s simple when the image is embossed.  Those raised outlines act as dams for the water, so you don’t have to stress about going outside the lines.  Let the water dry on your project before adding more color.

All that embossing could have been achieved by stamping in Archival Basic Black ink and embossing in clear powder, but luckily I still have some black powder.  I can’t image what stamper doesn’t emboss in black!  Hopefully that product will make a return to the Stampin’ Up! lineup in the next annual catalog.

Please note the products that will be retiring at the end of this month (or before, if supplies are depleted):  the Amazing You stamp set and the Shimmer Ribbon Pack.  Each is available for FREE with a $50 product order (before S/H and tax).
